"Il Cortile"

Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG

''Il Cortile'' is the result of years of focused efforts at Castello di Poppiano to enhance its most typical product, ''Chianti Colli Fiorentini''. Optimum exposure of the vineyards and low yields are the main factors behind this high quality wine.

Elevation-Exposure: 250-290 m s.l.m.
Sud/Sud-ovest
Soil :  Locally called ''Alberese'', medium textured soil deriving from calcareous conglomerates intermixed with clay, well drained.
Training System :  Cordon trained, short spur pruned.
Vines per Hectare :  3300-5300 (1350-2150/acre)
Grape Varieties :  Sangiovese 85% Canaiolo 5% Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon e Merlot 10%.
Harvest :  From 15 September to 15 October, depending on varieties.
Wine Making  :  In vats at a controlled temperature at 26-27°C (79-81°F) with a maceration of 14 days.
Maturing In vats, then for 4-6 months in large oak casks; at least 2 months in the bottle.
Tasting Notes  :  Color: brilliant ruby with purple hues.
Nose: very incisive aromas which open with fruity flavours of cherry and blackberry.
Taste: great balance between the alcoholic component and tannins. Elegant, deep, long fin.
